New Single, "Empire (Pts. I & II)", Out Now!

Hi all. Josh (Guitar) here. Today, we released a new single called “Empire (Pts. I & II)”. Now, to be honest, this one's pretty special for us. To explain why, I'll tell you a little story.

Julia (Vocals) and I are happily married now. But, we started dating in early 2020, and at that time, the future wasn't so certain. Just 2 months in, Julia came to my house one day really unsure how she felt about our relationship, and whether things were working. She told me she feared we didn't have a strong enough connection. I was afraid she was breaking up with me - I really liked her. But as I listened, I realize she wasn't quite breaking up - not yet anyway. So we talked, and in so doing, we decided we needed more excitement. We made a plan to go to a show and get out together.

Just days later, the COVID pandemic struck, and the show we had pinned our hopes on was cancelled. Adapting, we decided to do a nighttime walk of the DC monuments instead. We fetched an evening ride, and once we stepped foot out of the car, the conversation just flowed effortlessly between us. Buoyed at first maybe by the fear and adrenaline and the need for this night to save our relationship - we talked for hours about our childhoods, our families, science, English teachers, our favorite books. And we walked for many hours, deep into the night. When the streets were creepily empty and it felt like we were the last people alive, I asked where she'd hold up in a zombie apocalypse.

We returned to my place at two in the morning - before deciding to go out again. This time, to a diner. I ordered waffles… Julia had pickled beets. When we finished, I drove her to her place and kissed her goodnight.

I knew at the time that that night was one of the most fun I ever had. It felt like static electricity was coming out of my fingertips. That night cemented my relationship with the woman I'd come to love and marry, and it planted the seed which would make this little old indie rock band of ours possible. That night truly changed my life.

Today, we released a song about that very night. It's available on digital streaming platforms everywhere. There's also a lyric video that Julia and I created from filming one of the many nighttime monuments walks that we've done since. We think it's pretty good. If you're interested, you can watch that right here. If you like this song at all, please consider “liking” it, following or subscribing to us on platforms, etc. It helps us tremendously!

I can barely contain the excitement I have for the things that we have planned for the rest of this year… we'll see you real soon I hope :)
